An Elliptical Cylindrical Shaped Transmitarray for Wide-Angle Multibeam Applications

A transmitarray antenna with an elliptical cylindrical shape is presented for a wide-angle multibeam radiation in this communication. The has radiating aperture cross-section, namely, shape. Multiple feeds can be placed on the middle horizontal plane to realize multiple beams. Inspired by 2-D Ruze lens, and phase compensation are jointly designed according desired maximal beam direction. Innovative methods including feed refocusing analysis virtual focal length utilized achieve across 3-D radiations small scanning loss. In order validate proposed antenna, prototype operating millimeter-wave (mm-wave) $E$ -band been designed, fabricated, measured. By changing position of feeding gain horn along arc, main scanned 11 directions. measured peak boresight realized 27 dBi at 70.5 GHz coverage ±43° less than 2.7 dB loss obtained.
